Your home is your retreat, your shelter, and your comfort zone, and you've worked hard to make sure it is that for your partner also. The last thing he or she wants is to be greeted with snarls or a frosty stare as you come in from your long day at work.
Leave Work at Work
So, instead of bringing work stress home and dumping into onto your undeserving partner, try this instead. When you are approaching your home, begin the packing process. Take a deep breath, count to 7, and as you do, mentally take all of the problems, stress, and anxiety from work and figuratively pack them into a suitcase. Before you enter your home, leave the suitcase outside, as the things within it are not welcome in your home and should not become the burden of your partner. As you enter your home, remind yourself of how happy your home and partner make you feel, and how happy they will be to see you home after a long day apart from each other. Allow yourself to think about how good it feels to be away from the office and how lovely it is to have a comfortable home to come to. The last thing you want to do is have a work environment that is stressful, and create a home environment that is the same.
